The generosity of the people who leave the Hospice a gift their will, are contributing to the care of patients and families across the full range of our services.
We understand you will want to make your family and loved ones a priority. But any gift you leave to the Hospice, no matter what size, will help us to provide the right combination of professional clinical care and emotional and practical support to those who need us. You don’t need to be well off to leave a gift in your Will. Every amount is important to us and will make a huge difference to someone on the journey towards the end of their life.
Why make a Will?
Making a Will, and updating it when your circumstances change, is crucial if you want to be certain who will benefit from your money or possessions after you die. You may also want to leave instructions for your funeral, or appoint a guardian for your children. Some people assume everything will automatically go to their partner if they are not married, however this may not be the case. Having a valid Will can relieve your family from a great deal of worry and stress at a hugely upsetting time.
How can I remember St Clare Hospice in my Will?
There are a number of ways you can help us to provide our care and we always recommend you talk to a solicitor about making or changing your Will.
Residuary Gift – A gift of all or a percentage of your estate, after other gifts to family and friends are made and debts paid.
Pecuniary Gift – This is a fixed sum of money. Every pound will make a difference to us.
Specific Gift – A particular item, or house contents, which we could sell in our shops.
Adding a Codicil to your existing Will – Codicils are a way of giving a gift to St Clare without amending your existing Will. Your solicitor will advise you on the best way to go about this.
Much of the care we are able to provide is only possible because of the legacies we have received, and it is the income from future legacy gifts that will ensure our care is available for future generations.
