David’s first involvement with St Clare was as a volunteer when he helped our retail team set up an online shop on eBay. From there he was invited to apply to become a trustee, formally joining the board in 2013.

Man smiling to cameraDavid has worked in the IT industry for 37 years, two decades of which was spent as a senior manager or director for FTSE companies including Tesco, System Union and Westpac as well as Hertfordshire County Council Social Services. For the past eight years, he was a consultant specialising in process and organisational development.

With experience in retail and governance, he has a keen interest in the way the Hospice runs and how organisations in the charity sector differ from the commercial world.

David, who was widowed in 2009, has lived in Harlow since 1987 and has one son.
