Our Hospice team work closely together to deliver excellent care for patients and families. Our specialist clinical team consists of Doctors, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Psychological Therapists, Complementary Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers and Chaplains.
As an organisation we offer the following Clinical Services:
Inpatient Unit (IPU)
The IPU has 8 single en suite bedrooms looking out onto our beautiful gardens. All rooms have specialist beds and mattresses, comfortable recliner chairs, fridges, television, internet access and surround sound music systems. We offer open visiting and in discussion with our nursing team we can accommodate friends and family staying overnight.
The IPU is a short stay facility with patients staying between 7 and 10 days. We accept admissions for:

Day Therapy
Our Day Therapy service opens 4 days per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Day Therapy offers creative activities, complementary therapy, peer support and the opportunity to access all our team for advice and support on issues such as benefit advice, adaptations you may require at home, diet and exercise and managing any difficult symptoms or emotions to name but a few. Our day therapy service is tailored to your individual needs with patients being offered a 12 week programme of care.
Community Service
Our Community Service offers care in the patients home. This is supportive care and helps patients with difficult symptom and pain control problems, provides emotional support including support to families and carers.
The community care we provide is primarily given by our St.Clare Hospice Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurses. Our medical team, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and chaplain will also visit patients in their own home.
Outpatients
Our clinical care is delivered by a specialist team which consists of Doctors, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Psychological Therapists, Complementary Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers and Chaplains. Outpatient appointments can be arranged with any of our team and tailored to your individual needs.
Equipment Loan Service
We provide an equipment loan service offering riser recliner chairs and nebulizers. We have close working relationships with the Independent Living Service of West Essex, and the Red Cross who provide other vital equipment and can deliver directly to patients own homes.
Advice
We offer an advice line which operates 24/7. If you are a patient, carer, friend or a health professional, if we can help in any way, we will. We can offer advice on symptom control, services available, referral process and bereavement support to name but a few. Your call will be dealt with by our experienced nursing team.
Carers Support
Support for family and friends is vital. We can support you through our carers group, informally, or through our Complementary Therapy service. We recognise caring can be exhausting – we are here to help.
Bereavement Support
It is often comforting for patients to know that their family and friends will be cared for after they die. We offer a full bereavement service for everyone who has been cared for, or is known by the St Clare Hospice Team.
