Can you make a difference to local families this Christmas?

As Christmas approaches, many of our patients are desperate to hold on and make it to the special day. Christmas Day is a time to spend with family and loved ones, and our patients are mums, dads, brothers and sisters who don’t want to miss out on one last Christmas together. The thought of dying on Christmas Day can be worrying too – our patients don’t want that day to forever hold sad memories for their loved ones.

With your support, we can continue to care for even more people on Christmas Day. Making sure no one has to go through one of life’s hardest journeys alone. Any gift you can give today will help us care for people on Christmas day, and every other day of the year.

Thank you.

Today we wanted to share story with you. Linda is a Hospice at Home nursing assistant here at St Clare Hospice and will be caring for people in your local community this Christmas.

Linda’s story

My name’s Linda and I’m a Hospice at Home nursing assistant and I’ll be visiting and looking after people this Christmas. The Hospice at Home nursing team gives compassionate care to people in your local community – every day of the year.

I love being able to fulfil people’s wish of being looked after in the comfort of their own home. It’s such a privilege to be welcomed into each and every patient’s home, and to spend time with them on such a special day. Every family is so grateful for our help, and you know you are making such a big difference to people in the local community.

I joined St Clare as a way to give back for the help they gave me and my own Mum before she died…

My mum had Hospice at Home care, so I really understand how families feel when we first arrive at their home. As their loved one gets weaker, people are often stressed and don’t know where to turn. Then we arrive, and are able to calm everything down and give them the reassurance and support they need. You leave their house knowing that you’ve made a huge difference to that family after just one visit. And on Christmas Day, that’s even more special than normal.

On behalf of the St Clare Hospice team, I would like to thank you for your continued support as, without you, we wouldn’t be
able to care for people and their families this Christmas.

With my warmest wishes,

Linda
