Raise a cup for your community!
Do you enjoy a lovely, hot cuppa and a good chat? Then we have got wonderful news for you!
In October 2018, we launched a fantastic, brand-new community initiative to bring local people together. Community Big Brew is a regular series of coffee mornings that will be taking place monthly across four St Clare sites within the local community. These warm and inviting events will offer a welcoming space for local people to gather, share news, and feel connected.
Join us for a Community Big Brew on Wednesday 17th April 2019 between 10am – 11.30am at our St Clare Hospice shop in Dunmow, 41 High Street, CM6 1AE.
As part of our wider community engagement strategy, St Clare’s aim is to become a ‘hospice without walls,’ encouraging local people to come together for a cuppa and a chat, whilst finding out more about how they can get involved with their local Hospice and other support services in the local community; whether as a volunteer or supporter, or by accessing their varied services.
Community Big Brew coffee mornings will take place monthly across four different St Clare sites: the main hospice in Hastingwood, our Dunmow shop, Debden shop and Loughton shop. The events are open to all – shoppers, supporters, and local people.
Community Big Brew events are free to attend. Just show up on the day!
A word from our Compassionate Neighbours Manager, Stacey Towler…
“Community Big Brew is all about bringing local people together and helping them to feel connected, and part of their community.”
“Our charity shops are already thriving community hubs – with shoppers, donators and volunteers often saying how their local St Clare shop is like a ‘family’. Our shops therefore are the perfect place to hold a monthly coffee morning, enabling those current relationships to develop, and for people to meet others.”
“Many people see the ‘hospice’ as just one building near Harlow – but we believe a hospice is also a very special way of caring, and connecting with people, which reaches far beyond the four walls of our centre in Hastingwood. We want St Clare to be a place which is supporting people, and connecting with them, wherever they are – and whatever stage of life they are at, not just at the end of their life.”
“We hope that by providing a place for people to simply pop in for some company and a cup of tea, will help them to feel more connected to their local community.”
