This summer, our perennially popular Open Gardens event is back for its 28th year. Open Gardens will take place on weekends throughout May, June and July, giving green-fingered fans of the event more than twenty gardens to explore in aid of the Hospice. Come and explore some of the best-kept green spaces in our catchment area.

Saturday 28th May

Epping Open Gardens (12pm – 5pm) Shaftesbury Farm, Lindsey Street, CM16 6RE

This year, we kick-start the event with our amazing Epping Open Gardens on Saturday 28th  May, where there will be a collection of 14 gardens and allotments with afternoon teas, art, book and plant sales. For £6, you can see the wonderful community spirit of Epping as they come together for St Clare.

Tickets, parking, maps, raffle tickets and refreshments will be available at Shaftesbury Farm, together with a display of classic cars and vocal entertainments throughout the day. Parking is available and free to all visitors.

Dogs are allowed in most gardens, exceptions will be noted in the programme.

Free entry for children.


Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th June

Michael Chapman – Goosebury Hall, CM16 6QN

On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June, Goosebury Hall in Epping Green will open its gates as a firm and familiar favourite within our Open Gardens events. This garden is a member of the quiet garden trust, with a labyrinth to walk. Refreshments will be available all throughout the weekend, but on Sunday you’ll be able to enjoy delicious tea and cake amongst the picturesque garden.

Entry to Goosebury Hall on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June is £10, and you can visit on both days! 


The following gardens are part of our Open Gardens £5 season ticket. You can pay for your ticket on the gate of your first garden, which will grant you access to all 7 gardens opening across the season so please make sure to keep hold on your ticket! 

Saturday 25th June

Verna & Keith Naunton – 69 Rundells, CM18 7HD

‘L’ shaped garden featuring over 230 containers, water features and secluded areas. The garden was featured on Alan Titchmarsh’s first series of ‘Love Your Garden’. There is access to an allotment through the garden.

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June

Colin Lincoln – 31 Red Lion Crescent, CM17 9BN

This garden is medium sized and comprises of a mixture of conifer trees and shrubs surrounded by hedges, shingle paths weave through the beds. Three ponds rock garden, summerhouse and arbour. Also a small vegetable plot.

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th July

Georgie Boyd – 101 Blackbush Spring, CM20 3EA

This beautiful family garden has refreshments, plants and raffle tickets on sale.

Urban garden, with colourful plants decorating the boarders and potted plants located around the garden. This is a true hidden gem of a garden.

Sunday 10th July

Janice and Rex Hall – 176 Bishopsfield, CM18 6UT

Petite and peaceful garden.

Much loved and painted small courtyard garden with statues and some favourite plants. Displaying paintings in the garden for sale.

Saturday 16th July

Beverley MeLaugh – 129 Grey Goose Park, CM19 4JH

South facing family garden, sloping lawn, mature trees, shrubs and succulent borders. Refreshments for sale.
