SUMMARY:DNACPR Study Day
DESCRIPTION:This practical study day is taking place on 243rd September 2025 and is relevant for senior clinicians in the local region. It will help to develop their competence and confidence in leading Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) discussions. \nDNACPR is known to be a challenging topic. The primary aim of this study day is to provide an opportunity to practice these conversations in a safe environment. Clinicians will learn through the process of feedback and self-assessment techniques. \nThe course may also be used as part of a wider competency training package\, ratified by provider organisations. A key objective of this training is to support senior clinicians to formally take on the role of Senior Responsible Clinician in relation to DNACPR which will then enable them to lead on DNACPR discussions and documentation without the need of further verification from a medical colleague. \nKey topics\nThis study day will run over a full working day\, with key topics including: \n\nDecisions relating to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation\nReview of Mental Capacity Act and DNACPR decisions\nClinical considerations and evidence that underpin DNACPR decisions.\nRecording DNACPR decisions\n\nSt Clare Hospice nurses and medical consultants will be delivering these sessions in person\, at the Hospice. They will be leading the sessions together with the Clinical Lead for End of Life Care at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and medical consultants from the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH). \nThe DNACPR Study Day will also include discussions of case studies related to real clinical practice. Each clinician will get the opportunity to lead a DNACPR discussion with support from facilitators and the wider group. \nBook now\nAdmission on to this course is via invitation. For more information\, and to apply for acceptance onto the course\, email: training@stclarehospice.org.uk

SUMMARY:Caring for patients in the dying phase
DESCRIPTION:This is a collaborative\, in-person education workshop\, organised by St Clare Hospice and Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust\, giving attendees an opportunity to learn from experts in the field of palliative care and increase their confidence\, skills and knowledge in relation to caring for patients who are actively dying. \nCare of the dying patient generally refers to care in the last days or hours of life. The goals of care during the last hours and days of life are to ensure comfort and dignity. Quite often\, when healthcare providers may not have expertise in palliative care\, identifying when patients are at this stage of life can be challenging. With that in mind\, a study afternoon is arranged in person to address topics of: \n\nDiagnosing dying\nSymptom assessment approaches at the end of life \nPEACE documentation at End of Life\n\nPlaces for this free afternoon workshop are limited. \nTo register your interest please email: training@stclarehospice.org.uk
