DESCRIPTION:This virtual training day will support the development of knowledge and understanding around a variety of elements relating to End of Life and Palliative care\, including: \n\nAdvance Care Planning\nCare of the dying patient\nEthical issues\nManaging delirium and terminal agitation\nPain Management\nPsychological symptoms\nSyringe drivers\n\nThe day’s learning events will be delivered via TEAMS and the attendees will have the chance to interact and ask questions at the end of each presentation. \nA nominal charge of £10 is in place in order to secure your place. Both in the immediate aftermath of bereavement and in the longer-term. \nThe workshop will provide awareness on how to support different kinds of bereavement including loss of a loved one\, a child\, or a colleague. \nThe cost for the workshop is normally £75 per person and will be delivered face-to-face for up to 20 people. DESCRIPTION:Level 2 Psychological Skills training\nWe are holding our next Cancer and Palliative Care Level 2 Psychological skills training session in West Essex on Wednesday 10th May 2023. This will be delivered by Dr Danielle Bream-Jackson\, Clinical Psychologist in Cancer and Palliative Care at Essex Partnership University Foundation Trust. \nThis will be a one day training course aimed at Clinical Nurse Specialist’s working in Cancer and Palliative Care\, providing Level 2 psychological support to patients (as per the NICE guidelines\, 2004).  Attendee’s should ideally have already attended advanced communications skills training as a pre requisite\, and regularly be attending monthly Level 2 clinical supervision sessions. \nThe course will cover Psychological Assessment and Intervention skills\, as well as focussing on well-being through self-care exercises.  It will be facilitated by the Psychology Service for West Essex and hosted by St Clare Hospice\, with 12 spaces available via invitation only. \n\nTo register your interest please contact Sam Haythorpe by email:  samantha.haythorpe@stclarehospice.org.uk

SUMMARY:Support St Clare Hospice at Great Dunmow Soapbox Race
DESCRIPTION:Come along to Great Dunmow Soapbox Race to cheer your local hospice on!\nOn Sunday 30th April\, a team of St Clare Hospice staff and volunteers are facing the Great Dunmow Soapbox Race in aid of the hospice. \nAmy Winehouse\, Head of Relationship Fundraising\, will be flying onto the famously rapid course in a handmade soapbox made by kind volunteer Terry. \nThe soapbox itself has been decorated with the handprints of staff\, volunteers and service users at St Clare. \nThis fast-paced thrilling event is the perfect opportunity to spend a nice day out with friends and family. Not to mention\, great food and drinks are on offer throughout the day to whet your appetite. \nNo tickets required\, with a donation required upon entry. Doors open from 10.30am with the first race taking place at 12pm.
