SUMMARY:St Clare Masterclass: Tissue & Corneal Donation
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Helen Saxena for a free lunchtime lecture exploring the importance of Tissue and Corneal Donation. \nIn this Masterclass for professionals\, our Specialty Doctor will look at the importance of tissue and corneal donation in palliative care. \nThis session is to raise awareness and understanding around corneal donation\, as this is a topic that can be of importance for a patient’s wishes to be met at the end of their life. There is some evidence to suggest it is a topic that patients would prefer to have at an earlier stage in their illness\, if this is something they would wish to be considered. \nClick on this registration link to book your free place on this masterclass session\, which will be delivered via Teams.

SUMMARY:St Clare Masterclass: Prescribing opioids - the pitfalls and challenges
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Arjun Kingdon for a free lunchtime lecture exploring the pitfalls and challenges of prescribing opioids. \nOpioids (narcotics) are used with or without non-opioids to treat moderate to severe pain. They are often a necessary part of a pain relief plan for cancer patients. Progress has occurred in the management of cancer pain\, yet under-treatment persists. Additionally\, new challenges are threatening these advances. These challenges are numerous and include educational deficits\, time restraints\, and difficulties with side-effects and tolerance. Dr Qamar Abbas will deliver this talk to address those pitfalls and challenges and suggest ideas to deal with those. \nDr Arjun Kingdon is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Clare Hospice and Princess Alexandra Hospital. \nBooking is now closed.
