SUMMARY:Advance Care Planning/Care for the Dying study afternoon
DESCRIPTION:Increase your confidence\, skills and knowledge of caring for people who are actively dying at this face-to-face education workshop led by St Clare Hospice on Wednesday 19th November 2025.  \nThis afternoon study session has been designed to equip regional healthcare professionals to initiate Advance Care Planning (ACP) discussions skillfully and in a timely manner\, and to use the most appropriate ACP documentation available to their practice.\n\nThe second half will focus on caring for dying patients. The goals of care during the last days and hours of life are to ensure comfort and dignity. But\, quite often identifying when patients are at this stage of life can be challenging for healthcare professionals\, particularly if they do not have expertise in palliative care.  \nWith this in mind\, our study afternoon here at St Clare Hospice will address topics covering: \n\nInitiating ACP discussions\nUsing key ACP documentation\, such as ReSPECT and P(e)ACE templates\nDiagnosing dying\nMedication consideration in the last days/weeks of life\n\n\nFor more information\, or to book your place\, email training@stclarehospice.org.uk

SUMMARY:Introduction to Namaste Care - October workshop
DESCRIPTION:Taking place on Tuesday 21st October 2025 from 2pm to 4pm\, this introductory course is taking place online via Zoom. It is intended for anyone who supports someone who is living with advanced dementia\, across West Essex and East Hertfordshire.  \nThe ‘Introduction to Namaste Care’ workshop aims to train and empower both unpaid carers and paid care staff to deliver high-quality\, compassionate care to local people living with advanced dementia. \nWhat is Namaste Care? \n‘Namaste Care’ is an internationally-recognised care programme which teaches you to use simple activities that include sensory stimulation of our five senses (touch\, hearing\, sight\, smell and taste) to help people with dementia connect and engage with others. The word ‘Namaste’ is a Hindi greeting that means to ‘honour the spirit within\,’ and is the guiding principle of Namaste Care. Multi-sensory activities can involve music\, food and drink and can also include therapeutic touch and massage. These basic principles are simple to learn and easy to put into practice when caring for someone with dementia. \nFollowing on from this introductory course\, attendees will be invited to join a Namaste Network Group\, where they will be able to share best practice\, successes and learning points from putting Namaste care into practice within the caring work environment. \n\nBook your place today\nThis face-to-face workshop is free to attend\, but booking is essential to secure a place.  \nFor information and to book\, please call Joanne Morrison\, Dementia Support Service Coordinator on 07534 031702 or email dementia@stclarehospice.org.uk \n\n\nAlzheimer’s Society ‘Working to Become Dementia Friendly’ Accreditation\nIn January 2024\, St Clare Hospice were recognised by the Alzheimer’s Society and awarded ‘Working to Become Dementia Friendly’ accreditation\, as a result of our commitment to improving the experience of people living with dementia\, their families and carers.

SUMMARY:DNACPR Study Day
DESCRIPTION:This practical study day is taking place on 243rd September 2025 and is relevant for senior clinicians in the local region. It will help to develop their competence and confidence in leading Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) discussions. \nDNACPR is known to be a challenging topic. They will be leading the sessions together with the Clinical Lead for End of Life Care at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and medical consultants from the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH). \nThe DNACPR Study Day will also include discussions of case studies related to real clinical practice. Each clinician will get the opportunity to lead a DNACPR discussion with support from facilitators and the wider group. \nBook now\nAdmission on to this course is via invitation. SUMMARY:Advance Care Planning/Care for the Dying study afternoon
DESCRIPTION:Increase your confidence\, skills and knowledge of caring for people who are actively dying at this face-to-face education workshop led by St Clare Hospice on Wednesday 9th April 2025.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Namaste Care - April workshop
DESCRIPTION:Taking place on Tuesday 8th April 2025 from 1pm-4pm\, this introductory course will be held at St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood. \nFor information and to book\, please call Joanne Morrison\, Dementia Support Service Coordinator on 07534 031702 or email namastecare@stclarehospice.org.uk \n\n\nAlzheimer’s Society ‘Working to Become Dementia Friendly’ Accreditation\nIn January 2024\, St Clare Hospice were recognised by the Alzheimer’s Society and awarded ‘Working to Become Dementia Friendly’ accreditation\, as a result of our commitment to improving the experience of people living with dementia\, their families and carers.
