How to support St Clare through the pandemic

Whether you're working from home or in self-isolation, there are many things you can do from the comfort of your 'soft office' to support St Clare Hospice during the current climate.

Give your staff a laugh!

Join in with our brand new lock-down fundraising challenge. It’s simple, staff vote for a laugh from our ‘list of laughs’ and have one week to raise enough funds to unlock the laugh whilst the boss has one week to raise enough funds to prevent the laugh from going ahead!

It’s a great way to boost staff morale, work as a team and increase staff interaction!

To take part, and for a full step by step guide, contact St Clare’s Corporate Fundraising Officer, Charlotte Durham at

Donate your usual lunch and travel costs to St Clare

How much do you usually spend on travel and lunch in a normal working week? £20? £30? £50 or more? Whilst working from home, how about donating your usual travel and lunch costs to St Clare Hospice.

Fine Jars

This is one you can get the whole family involved with! Whether you’re fed up of lights being left on, and taps left running or you’re trying to encourage yourself to stay off social media whilst working from home, set a rule and if anyone breaks it, £1 in the fine jar! Over the next couple of weeks, you’ll be amazed at home much you’ve raised!

Say Goodbye to bad habits

Now is the perfect time to give up a vice and concentrate on your health. What’s your guilty pleasure? It could be a glass of wine in the evening, bingeing on chocolate and sweets, or maybe you’re trying to quit smoking. Set up a fundraising page (Virgin Money Giving, Just Giving) and encourage your friends and family to support you! You could have one sponsor each day for giving it up for a certain period –  whether that be a few weeks, a few months or a whole year!

100 Square Challenge

Download our 100 Square Challenge template and encourage your social media followers to take part. Suggested donation £1 (Or £2 if you’re feeling extra generous). Use a random number generator to announce a winner and split the income between the winner and St Clare Hospice. You could host a game for every week you’re working from home!

Shop on our eBay shop

If you are staying at home, browsing the internet, you can continue to support St Clare by buying goods online. Our St Clare eBay shop offers a hand-picked collection of our most exclusive items that local people have donated to the Hospice. Boasting an eclectic selection of valuable collectables and memorabilia, as well as designer goods, jewellery, specialist equipment and more, our eBay store is sure to inspire you for a touch of retail therapy!

When you shop online, donate to us! (Amazon smile, easyfundraising)

When you’re doing your online shopping, why not do it through Easy Fundraising, an online organisation who will donate money to charity when you shop through them – meaning you actually raise vital funding for St Clare at no extra cost to you!

And remember that Amazon Smile lets you donate to St Clare every time you make a purchase through Amazon – at no extra cost to you. You just need to go on to before you make your purchase.

End of Financial Year

A majority of businesses are so close to the end of the financial year, and some will be fortunate enough to find themselves with a few extra pounds in the pot. If you are one of those businesses then please do consider St Clare Hospice and our hard working staff throughout this uncertain time.

Match Funding

Above, you can find some simple ‘sofa fundraising’ ideas. If your employees initiate any fundraising activities whilst working from home, support them by match funding their fabulous efforts!

Make a Pledge

We understand the world is a little off-balance at the moment, so how about making a pledge for when it’s back to business. You could choose us for your 2020/2021 Charity of the Year, or pledge to sponsor future events – such as Networking with Heart, Open Gardens, Corporate Go Karting. You could also pledge to volunteer with us in the future.

Special Message from our Corporate Fundraising Team

So the world is a little topsy-turvy right now but please know that we are still around to support you, and we know you’re here to support us too. We are currently both working from home with limited time being spent in the Taylor Centre Office, however we are still accessible via e-mail and have set our office phones to connect to business phones at home. Please do continue to keep in touch – we’d love to see what your ‘home offices’ are like, ours are beds and our uniform is pyjamas!

Keep healthy, hydrated and safe!

Wishing you all the very best and we hope to see you all soon.
