We love our volunteers!
This February, we are celebrating Valentine’s Day by sharing our love for the more than 500 volunteers who give their time to lend a hand to the hospice.
With a diverse range of voluntary roles at St Clare, our team of 500 volunteers provide vital support to ensure that the hospice gives the highest standard of care to patients and families.
From running volunteer-led support groups and supporting nursing staff on the Inpatient Unit, to assisting in the charity’s Finance, Fundraising and Retail teams and helping to maintain the hospice gardens and grounds – the volunteers help across all departments of St Clare.
Our Voluntary Services Manager, Rob Wallace, said:
“We love our volunteers! The support of each and every one of our volunteers is indispensable. Everyone plays an essential role in the running of St Clare and helps to make it the place of sanctuary we all know and love. We simply couldn’t do what we do here if it wasn’t for the support, generosity and selflessness of our volunteer team.”
“People in the local community are so keen to lend a hand to us because they know that they are making a real difference to those around them – friends, family members and neighbours. Volunteering with your local hospice is gratifying and meaningful – we love our volunteers, and they love volunteering with us. That’s why they do it!”
Staff at St Clare celebrated the love this February and told us why they love our volunteers!
St Clare volunteers also expressed their love for helping their local hospice this Valentine’s Day. Asked why they love volunteering at St Clare, volunteers said:
Margaret said: “It’s an opportunity to give something back after the care we received.”
Tony said: “It’s very satisfying to be part of something so worthwhile.”
David said: “It’s good to see the smiles on people’s faces.”
