A local construction company based in Harlow has pledged thousands to St Clare Hospice for the 5th year in a row.

Oakmont Construction (at River Way, Harlow) have sponsored St Clare’s Memory Tree since its relaunch in 2016, and have once again pledged to sponsor the memorial service for another year running. Since ‘cutting the ribbon’ on the Memory Tree, Oakmont have contributed £21,000 in sponsorship to St Clare.

However, this local business’ fundraising efforts do not end there. The company has also donated an additional £14,000 from funds raised through events – most recently, staff took part in their very own ‘Muddy Mayhem’ sponsored mud-run race in summer 2019, as well as festive fundraising throughout the Christmas period of 2019. As of 2020, Oakmont’s total contribution to the Hospice amounts to a healthy £35,000 in vital funding that has helped to pay for St Clare’s care and support services for local people.

Managing Director at Oakmont Construction, Andy Kimpton, said:

“In 2020, here at Oakmont Construction we have pledged to continue sponsoring St Clare’s Memory Tree, as well as committing to several fundraising initiatives throughout the course of the New Year. We value the relationship we have with the Hospice very highly here at Oakmont; as a local company who operate within Harlow and the surrounding areas, we know how instrumental St Clare are in providing end of life and palliative care to local people living with a life-limiting illness, and their families. Neighbours; friends; family members – St Clare has touched the lives of thousands of local people and here at Oakmont we recognise the importance of working together as a community. We’re really looking forward to another year of supporting St Clare Hospice; as a local business, it brings our staff together in a really ‘feel good’ way, knowing that we’re giving back to the community.”

Amy Jacobs, Corporate Fundraising Manager at St Clare Hospice, commented:

“The relationship that we have with Oakmont Construction is the epitome of working together as a community. Their support has enabled us to maintain our Memory Tree; a touching service for local people who have experienced bereavement to remember and honour the life of a loved one with a personalised leaf on our Tree. We’d like to thank all of wonderful staff at Oakmont, who, each year, go above and beyond to support our cause. We can’t wait to see what fun and exciting fundraising activities you have planned for 2020!”
