Stortford business, Hanbury Wealth, is launching a project to offer financial advice in aid of  our Hospice!

A local financial consultancy firm in Bishop’s Stortford is hosting a ‘financial planning week’ event in aid of St Clare Hospice this November.

Hanbury Wealth Management Ltd, located at Apex House on Hockerill Street (CM23 2DW), is launching the St Clare Financial Planning Week in aid of the Hospice to raise vital funding that will go towards our care and support for local people living with a life-limiting illness, and those facing death, dying and loss.

The project was inspired after Hanbury Wealth’s Business Development Manager, Julie North, experienced St Clare’s compassionate care and support first-hand back in October 2017.

“St Clare helps individuals and families at a very difficult time. This also can be a time of financial uncertainty for many people,” explains Julie. “Whether it be provision of income, looking after loved ones, passing on wealth or sheltering loved ones from financial burden, there are many things to consider.”

“I know this from my own personal experience, after my dad, Terry Johnson, received the very best care from St Clare before passing away on their Inpatient Unit. We only had 15 days from Dad’s diagnosis to his passing – a shock we are still trying to come to terms with. However, we were able to make every precious minute count at St Clare, which meant everything to us.”

Explaining the project, Julie added: “The St Clare Financial Planning Week we are hosting here at Hanbury Wealth not only aims to raise vital income for the Hospice, so that others can access the care my family received; the project also aims to educate people on how some of this planning can be made in advance of these events. We want to help people prepare themselves financially, and have peace of mind that their financial affairs are organised, so they don’t have to worry about money when there are more important things to focus on with their time.”

Hanbury Wealth’s St Clare Financial Planning Week will launch at the Hospice in Hastingwood on Thursday 7th November in the Dining Room from 6pm – 9pm. All local people are invited to attend to hear a presentation from Independent Financial Advisor, Chris Fenton, over light refreshments.

Those interested in receiving financial advice will be able to make appointments with Hanbury Wealth from Monday 11th November; with all donations received during the week being passed to St Clare Hospice. Clients will need to quote ‘St Clare Hospice’ upon booking to take part in the offer, pledging to make a minimum suggested donation for the service to St Clare via Hanbury Wealth. Appointments are available to book either at the office in Bishop’s Stortford, or in local people’s own homes.

Corporate Fundraising Manager at St Clare Hospice, Amy Jacobs, commented: “We are so lucky to have such inspiring support from Bishop Stortford’s very own Hanbury Wealth this autumn. The project is such a heartfelt and powerful way to ensure that we can continue offering our care to all those who need us, completely free of charge – now, and in the future. I’d encourage anyone who is worrying about their finances during a difficult time to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Hanbury Wealth provide a tailored, reliable and professional service to its clients, and we couldn’t be prouder to have earned their support.

Amy added, “We’d also like to add our grateful thanks to Lesley-Ann Mayhew, Partner at Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, for her support of the project and for sponsoring the light refreshments at Hanbury’s information session. Lesley-Ann’s support is much appreciated by the team here at St Clare Hospice.”

“When I spoke to Hanbury Wealth about hosting a fundraiser like this in aid of St Clare, there was no hesitation to support the project,” Julie adds. “The Hospice means so many things to so many different people; for my family, it allowed us to feel safe and gave us a place to be together as a family unit. Aside from my own personal fundraising feats in aid of the Hospice, I wanted to do something far more lasting for St Clare with Hanbury Wealth – so that they can continue to care for local people like Dad and our family in the future.”
