Look after the ones you love, and St Clare, this Wills Month
When it comes to looking after our family, there isn’t much we wouldn’t do to take care of them. It may come as a surprise then, that when it comes to stating our wishes for after we’ve gone, more than half of adults living in the UK admit that they do not have a Will.
To mark St Clare’s Wills Month, throughout June we are reminding people that writing your Will is one of the most important things you can do to ensure that your family is cared for – and that it is never too soon to start thinking about it.
From Monday 1st June – Tuesday 30th June 2020 you are able to make or amend your Will for a suggested donation to St Clare Hospice. New for 2020, the campaign has become contact-free, with supporters able to either have a contact-free appointment with a participating Solicitor, or to use an online Will writing portal. This enables supporters to write their Will in a safe and secure way with access to expert legal advice, whilst safely adhering to the coronavirus lockdown measures.
Wills Month organiser, St Clare Corporate Fundraising Officer Charlotte Durham, said: “This year, more than ever, we can all see the importance of having a Will. As we all navigate the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, we can take a certain step to ensuring our families are looked after once we are gone – by writing our Will. Your family is the most important thing in the world, and writing a Will is one thing we can all do to make sure they are cared for in the future.”
Charlotte continued: “We have been working hard to adapt our usual Wills Month format so that supporters can take part safely and securely during the coronavirus outbreak. We are delighted that two of our Solicitors’ firms have been able to adapt their service so that they can offer contact-free appointments – kindly volunteering their time so that supporters can make or amend their Will in return for a donation to St Clare Hospice. New for this year, we have a system to enable supporters to make their Will using an expert, online Will writing platform – assisting them to make a legally binding Will from the comfort of their own home. Making a Will as part of our Wills Month will help to raise vital funds for St Clare Hospice – so there has never been a better time to do it.”
For a suggested minimum donation to St Clare you will be able to make one of the most important documents in your life – whilst also raising vital funds for your local Hospice. The suggested minimum donations are: £165 for a Single Will; £220 for a Double Will; £100 for an amended Will.
A donation of £165 is enough to pay for a set of eight counselling sessions for a bereaved family member, friend or loved one, delivered by a qualified counsellor. St Clare’s bereavement support and counselling can be vital in supporting someone to face their grieving journey.
