Latest news from your local Hospice…
We are delighted to be sharing the latest edition of St Clare News with you today. If you haven’t seen our latest newsletter already, please see the bottom of this page for a link to read the newsletter online. You can also sign up to receive future mailings here too.
In this edition, you will find out how all of your donations have helped make a huge difference to local people on pages 10 and 11.
As St Clare only receives limited funding from the NHS, we rely on our local community to help raise money to fund our hospice services. Together, we need to fundraise around £8,000 each and every day to make sure St Clare can continue to care – see pages 14 and 15 to find out how you can get involved.
Any donation you can give today will directly help people like Andy receive the care they need. Please see his story below.
My name is Andy and I have been under St Clare’s care for around five years.
My story began in 1996 when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at just 26 years old. My diagnosis came as a complete shock to me and I didn’t know who to turn to.
Over the years I have received support from various professionals, but it wasn’t until I was referred to St Clare, around five years ago, when I finally felt like I was being listened to and all my questions were being answered.
When I was first referred to St Clare, I was confused as like many others, I thought St Clare only offered end of life care to cancer patients. But I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I attend the Wellbeing Hub sessions here at St Clare, which are designed for people like me that have an incurable condition. It’s nice to spend time with like-minded people, of all different ages, with different diagnoses.
The staff teach you everything you need to know; from coming to terms with your diagnosis, to how to navigate your way through all the different doctors’ appointments, relaxation methods and general wellbeing tips. Everyone at St Clare is amazing and go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need.
Any donation you can give today will help people like me receive the support they have been longing for.
St Clare is here to help anyone who is living with a life limiting or terminal condition from the first point of diagnosis. The earlier St Clare is able to help people with their diagnoses, the less stress, anxiety and suffering people in your local community have to go through.
