During 2017-18, it cost £4.6 million to run all our hospice services, including clinical, fundraising and support services. We receive limited NHS funding, so we need to fundraise most of this. We therefore rely on our local community to help us raise money each year so we can continue being there for local families facing one of the most difficult journeys in life.
Individuals, schools, community groups, businesses, events and grant-making trusts and foundations all help us to raise the money we need to keep going.
We are members of the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) self-regulatory scheme. Find out more
How we set senior salaries
St Clare Hospice offers a wide range of specialist palliative care services to local people and their families. These services are led by palliative care consultants and other highly qualified clinical staff.
As a small, local charity, we are accountable to the people we serve across west Essex and East Hertfordshire and to all those who support us. We take our responsibility in spending money that people donate very seriously, this includes setting salary levels. All our salaries levels are set to reflect the responsibilities, qualifications and skills needed for the jobs we have at the hospice. They are also bench-marked against several different sources of information, including NHS pay scales, other hospices and the not-for-profit sector as a whole.
Our aim is always to set our salaries at a level that will attract the right people with the right skills and experience we need and who have a passion for our mission to improve the lives of those with life-limiting illnesses.
