Step Up for St Clare!

Could you Step Up for St Clare this June? Take on our sponsored step challenge and help to raise vital funds so that we can put more nurses in people’s homes and your local Hospice.

You can do the challenge alone or with a team, supporting each other to reach your goal. Whether you decide to walk, jump, skip, hop or run your steps is completely up to you!

How to take part

All you need to do is sign up using the form below, and you’ll be sent your very own St Clare Hospice supporter t-shirt – so every one can see you’re Stepping Up for St Clare! Then set up your JustGiving fundraising page and start collecting that sponsorship.

If you don’t own a step counting device, there are lots of free step counters that you can download for your phone. Just take a look in your app store and search ‘step counter’. That’s the easiest way to count how many steps you’re taking a day. Read on to see our FAQs about Step Up!

You can track your step progress using our Step Up calendar, free to download below. And share what you’re doing on Facebook with your followers by using your very own I’m Stepping Up Facebook frame!

Take part as a Team!

Could you step up as a School or Community Group and take part in a sponsored step challenge as a team?

If you can’t walk every day in June, team up with others to collectively smash the step target. You can set up a team JustGiving page and each share the same page to collect sponsorship together.

If you’re a class of Little Steppers, each child can take on their own mini version of the challenge, aiming to complete 30,000 steps during June. It is a great way to keep kids active and shows that small steps can make a huge difference to local people in need!

The Step Up challenge is free to enter, and individuals will receive their very own St Clare Hospice t-shirt. All we ask is that you commit to fundraising as much sponsorship as possible!

Step Up FAQs

How far is 10,000 steps?

10,000 steps is equal to 5 miles, or an hour and 40 minutes walking, depending on your stride length and walking speed.

What happens if I don’t hit my 300,000 step goal?

Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really tough challenge, so it will be hard to complete! But we can’t thank you enough for Stepping Up and taking part.  Don’t worry if you’re unable to complete your daily steps sometimes , just keep trying. Take it at your own pace and resume your challenge when it’s safe for you.

Do I need to prove my steps?

Don’t worry, we trust you! You don’t need to send us your step count but you might want to post about your progress on your JustGiving page or update people on your social media pages, to let all your friends and family know how you’re getting on with your challenge – and encourage them to sponsor you!

What are some good ways to walk 10,000 steps a day?

Get the challenge done doing what you love! Here are some ways you can clock up extra steps:

  • Do an online fitness class at home
  • Take the dog for an extra walk
  • Do some gardening
  • Get off the train or bus a stop early
  • Explore your local area
  • Always take the stairs
  • Meet a friend for a socially-distanced walk

Nurses Are Needed

The Step Up challenge is part of our Nurses Are campaign, as we fund more registered nurse posts across our clinical teams – supporting more local people to have the best possible death, pain free, in the place of their choice.
