What is the Breathlessness Group?
Currently, our Breathlessness Group course consists of four, weekly sessions, hosted on Thursday afternoons onsite at St Clare Hospice. It is run by a Physiotherapist.
Throughout the course, our four, weekly sessions will focus on:
- Anatomy and breathing exercises
- Fatigue management and equipment
- Introduction to Advance Care Planning, Diet and Exercise
- Anxiety management
How will the Breathlessness Group help me?
Breathlessness is often an uncomfortable symptom of many conditions, but feeling in control of your breathing and knowing what to do when you become breathless, can help to give you confidence to continue doing the things you want to in life.
Our course can help you:
- Develop techniques to manage your breathlessness
- Connect you with other local people with similar experiences
- Build confidence
- Keep active, and doing the things you love
Who is the Breathlessness Group for?
The group can help you if you are suffering from a life-limiting condition that causes breathlessness. Breathlessness can be an uncomfortable and distressing symptom for people experiencing conditions such as:
- COPD
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Cancer
- Heart failure
The group is free of charge, and is for all adults aged over 18, who are facing a life-limiting condition. You just need to be registered with a West Essex GP or on the East Hertfordshire border.
