Our Neurological Support Group, in partnership with the EPUT Community Neurological Team, offers support for people living with progressive neurological conditions and their carers, providing emotional support, practical advice, therapeutic activities and early access to hospice wellbeing services in a friendly, supportive environment.

Make a referral

The group meets in the St Clare Community Space on the first Tuesday of every month from 1.30pm to 3pm. It offers a safe, supportive environment where people can access hospice wellbeing services earlier in their diagnosis, build confidence and connect with others who understand the challenges of living with neurological conditions. 

The group is facilitated by St Clare’s therapy team and Clinical Nurse Specialists, alongside EPUT’s Community Neurological Team, ensuring your receive expert, joined-up support in one accessible setting. 

Although the group is open access, participants will need to be referred through St Clare’s First Contact Service. Both self-referrals and professional referrals are welcome. 

The Neurological Support Group is open access, with referrals managed through the St Clare Hospice First Contact Service.  

Referrals can be made by: 

  • Individuals (self-referral) 
  • Carers 
  • Health and social care professionals

Living with a progressive neurological condition can be physically, emotionally and socially challenging. Our neurological support group is designed to support your wellbeing and quality of life in a holistic, person-centred way.   

By attending, you can benefit from: 

  • Emotional and peer support – connect with others living with similar conditions and reduce feelings of isolation 
  • Practical advice – guidance on managing symptoms, maintaining independence and adapting to change 
  • Therapeutic activities – gentle exercise, relaxation and wellbeing support tailored to your abilities 
  • Expert input – themed sessions by relevant specialists, with opportunities to ask questions 
  • Support for carers – separate breakout time for carers to receive emotional support and practical guidance 
  • Early engagement with hospice services – helping to reduce anxiety around hospice care and ensuring timely access to support when needs change 
  • Co-ordinated care – with input from St Clare Hospice and EPUT to ensure the right support at the right time 

The group aims to empower people to take ownership of their care journey, enhance understanding of progressive neurological conditions and improve overall wellbeing for both individuals and carers.  

The neurological support group is for people living with progressive, degenerative neurological conditions and their carers, including (but not limited to): 

  • Motor Neurone Disease (MND) 
  • Huntington’s disease 
  • Advanced Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis
  • Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) 
  • Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) 
  • Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) 
  • Rare progressive neurological diagnoses 

The sessions take place in our accessible Community Space, with space for carers to have time apart for support or relaxation, alongside shared group activities and therapeutic interventions.
