Walking in Memory is back and bigger than ever for its sixth year this September – including a NEW Saffron Walden location!

Walking in Memory is St Clare Hospice’s flagship sponsored fundraising event where local people and their families come together to take part in a 5k walk in honour of a loved one.

Our 5k charity walk provides families with a touching way to celebrate their loved ones memory by joining others who understand as you take on a scenic walk in one of two beautiful locations in West Essex.

What does registration for a Walking in Memory event include?

We’re currently running an early bird offer (lasts until Monday 10th June!) where registration is £12 per adult and £5 per child. This includes:

  • 1 entry to your local Walking in Memory event.
  • A BBQ bap to enjoy after you’ve completed the walk – vegan options available.
  • Your own keepsake knitted Walking in Memory heart.
  • Free St Clare Hospice t-shirt when you receive your first JustGiving donation!

How do I set up a JustGiving page?

Are children allowed?

We encourage you to bring along all members of the family to get involved with Walking in Memory; please note, it’s advised that the terrain of the event is unsuitable for pushchairs.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but we just ask that they are kept on leads throughout.

Is the route accessible?

Everyone is welcome to join us. The landscape of both events features both uphill and downhill uneven countryside paths that venture across roads and through both wooded areas and fields.

If you’d like to assess whether this event is accessible for you, our Fundraising team are happy to discuss the Walking in Memory routes with you.

Does it matter how long it takes me to complete the walk?

We estimate that the walk will take just over an hour to complete but, no matter your timing, we are here to cheer you on from the start right up until you reach the finish line on your return.

Once you’ve completed the walk, you’ll be able to enjoy the gorgeous taste of a delicious burger or sausage straight from the BBQ – with vegan options available too! Meaning you’ll leave with your heart and stomach feeling full from this sponsored walk to remember.

Can I volunteer at Walking in Memory?

Yes! We couldn’t do what we do without the incredible support of volunteers, including our events.

So if walking isn’t for you and you’d prefer to support Walking in Memory by volunteering your time, we will have a number of volunteer opportunities available so you can still get involved with this fantastic event.
