Take on a thrilling charity walk across red hot embers at the St Clare Firewalk, all in aid of hospice care

£25 per person

Turn up the heat and take on the ultimate challenge

This isn’t your usual charity challenge. The St Clare Firewalk is a truly memorable experience — a barefoot walk across red-hot embers, glowing at around 600 degrees Fahrenheit. There are no tricks and no illusions — just you, the fire, and the chance to do something incredible.

As the sun goes down and the embers light up, the atmosphere will be buzzing with music from our live DJ. There’ll be refreshments available for both walkers and spectators to enjoy while soaking up the energy of the night.

Whether you’re looking for a thrill or simply want to support a great cause, the Firewalk is your chance to shine for St Clare Hospice.

Be the first to know about early bird entry for our 2026 Firewalk!

Event

Who can take part in the St Clare Firewalk?

Our Firewalk is a thrilling challenge for those feeling brave enough to walk across red hot embers.

Please note: You must be at least 16 years old to do the Firewalk. If you’re 16 to 18, you’ll need a parent or guardian to sign a consent form before you can take part.

What happens on the evening of the event?

Registration will begin at 6.30pm onwards. After the training session (beginning at 7pm) you will head to the fire lane at 7.45pm.

An experienced member of the Time4Change team always crosses the lane first to ensure it meets their strict safety criteria.

Once it is approved, each walker gets a chance to walk across the fire lane.

After everyone has safely crossed, you will return for a short debrief and receive your Firewalk certificate.

Can my friends and family come along to watch?

Yes! Family and friends are very welcome to come and cheer you on.

Will refreshments be available?

Yes. There will be refreshments available to purchase at the event, via card and cash payments.

What should I wear?

No special clothes are required. Casual, comfortable and warm clothing is recommended with trousers you can easily roll up and easy to remove socks and footwear.

Note: Please avoid wearing nail polish and lotions on your feet on the day.

Extra tip: Wet wipes are handy for cleaning soot off your feet afterwards.

Health and safety

Is it safe?

Yes. The Firewalk is run by experts from Time4Change. Before you walk, they’ll give you a motivational training session to show you how to do it safely and confidently. You’ll learn everything you need to take on the challenge!

Alcohol and prescribed/non-prescribed drugs

Due to the inherent risks associated with firewalking, any substances which adversely affect the operation of your nervous system will have a negative impact on your ability to walk safely over hot coals.

Any person who appears to be visibly intoxicated will be declined the opportunity to firewalk.

If you are taking any prescribed medication you are unsure about, please refer to your local GP for advice.

Weather conditions

What happens if the weather is bad?

Our Firewalk will go ahead in most weather conditions. If the event does need to be cancelled, due to severe weather conditions, you will be informed with plenty of notice.

Accessibility

Is this event accessible?

The Firewalk will be held in the Hospice’s car park.

The hospice has accessible parking spaces located outside of the main hospice buildings alongside others based outside of the Taylor Centre car park.

The Hospice building is wheelchair accessible with access to assistive and disabled toilets. There is a hearing loop available on site. Currently, the hospice does not have a Changing Places toilet.
