Frequently Asked Questions: Charity Sahara Trek
Who can sign up for the trek?
Anyone aged 18 or over is welcome to join this amazing desert adventure. If you’re 16 or 17, you can still take part – just make sure you’re accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
How much do I need to fundraise?
You’ll need to raise a minimum of £2,000, in addition to a £395 non-refundable deposit paid directly to Different Travel to secure your spot.
What if I don’t hit my fundraising target?
If you don’t reach your target, unfortunately, you won’t be able to take part in the trek, as the funds also cover some of the trip costs.
When does the fundraising need to be completed?
We ask that £1,600 of the £2,000 is raised by July 2026, so that St Clare Hospice doesn’t have to cover any upfront costs.
Can I take part on my own?
Definitely! Lots of people join solo – it’s a brilliant way to meet new people and share a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a like-minded group.
Is there a self-funding option?
Yes – we offer a flexi payment option. This involves:
- Pay £995 (plus your £395 deposit) directly to Different Travel
- Fundraise £995 for St Clare Hospice
What support will I get before and during the trip?
You’ll have full support from our Challenges Events Relationship Fundraiser, who’ll be there to guide you through the fundraising and answer any trek-related questions.
We’ll also set up a WhatsApp group so you can stay in touch with our fundraising team and your fellow trekkers.
Will I meet the group before we go?
Yes! Besides chatting in the WhatsApp group, we’re planning a few optional meetups ahead of the trip so you can connect with your fellow trekkers in person.
What’s the food like on the trek?
Delicious and freshly prepared! All meals are cooked by a trek chef and served outdoors. You’ll enjoy a mix of traditional Moroccan dishes – and yes, they can cater for vegan, vegetarian, or other dietary needs if you let us know when you register.
