My name is Shona Evangeli, and as a nurse myself, and Director of Patient Care and Quality here at St Clare Hospice, I’m proud to witness the expert, loving and considerate care that our team of doctors, nurses and therapists give to our patients each and every day.
Whether it is here in our Inpatient Unit, or in our patients’ own homes, dignity and respect is at the heart of everything that we do, and it is often the smallest acts that can bring the greatest comfort and relief.
A cosy bed, a comfortable chair or a hand to hold are the simple things which we so often take for granted, but which can make the world of difference to someone who is approaching the end of their life.
However, the best possible care requires the best possible equipment, and as a charity with limited resources, that presents us with a challenge.
