When we, or someone close to us, is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or is approaching the end of life due to older age, there will often be many things to discuss that can be difficult to approach.

Here at St Clare, we believe that we should all feel empowered to talk about death and dying; ask questions; listen; and make our wishes known to those who are most important to us.

However, it is not always easy to do this. Talking about the future can be upsetting, worrying and scary for many people. Sometimes, it can feel ‘awkward’ to bring up in conversation – even when there are really important things that you feel you should talk about with your friends and family. It can also be difficult to make your thoughts, wishes and feelings known to a healthcare professional who is looking after you or someone close to you.
