The St Clare Serenity Garden has been thoughtfully created to provide comfort and connection through nature, reflection and remembrance for bereaved families in West Essex and across the borders of East Hertfordshire.

St Clare Hospice’s brand-new Serenity Garden is located in the beautiful Hospice gardens, filled with flowers and created for reflection, remembrance and connection for adults and children alike. At the heart of this stunning new space is a garden house beside the Hospice pond where personalised bronze hearts will line the walls, each engraved with the name of someone dearly loved.

By making a tribute in the St Clare Hospice Serenity Garden, you are helping local people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, receive the care they desperately need.

Dedicate or renew your Serenity Garden heart

Thank you for choosing to remember someone you dearly love and miss by creating a Serenity Garden tribute.

Your heart(s) will stay in our Serenity Garden for a year, after which you will be offered the chance to renew it or have it returned to you as a keepsake.

You can donate the entire year up front for a suggested donation (£85), or as smaller monthly donations (£7.09) by Direct Debit.

Every dedication made within the Serenity Garden helps local people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, receive compassionate Hospice care when they need it most.

On receipt of your order form your request will be granted subject to approval of the inscription, availability of hearts and remaining space being available within the Serenity Garden.
St Clare reserves the right to refuse any application at its discretion.
St Clare retains complete control over the location and dates of installation of all hearts within the Serenity Garden.
All Hearts are bronze in colour.
Each heart can only hold up to 60 characters including punctuation and spaces.
The name engraved on your heart will appear exactly as entered so please check spelling carefully.
Payee is able to request a different inscription of the heart at the point of annual renewal.
Payee must inform the Fundraising team of any changes to their contact details.
If the payee is uncontactable at time of renewal, the heart will be removed and stored safely at the Hospice.
In exceptional circumstances St Clare reserves the right to relocate the Serenity Garden.
St Clare are able to change the suggested donation of each hearts should they need to.
Serentiy Garden heart dedications created by Direct Debit will automatically renew each year unless St Clare Hospice are notified otherwise. Your inscription will remain the same unless the hospice are informed of an update, which you are permitted to make.

Denise and Nick’s story

‘When Nick became ill, St Clare Hospice was there for us. He had prostate cancer which spread quickly, and those final months were incredibly difficult. Nick was fiercely independent and never found it easy to accept help. But he trusted Sam, one of St Clare’s Clinical Nurse Specialists, from the very beginning.

‘I’ll never forget seeing them together in our garden, talking honestly and openly while my son and I pottered nearby. Sam helped manage Nick’s pain and gave us both the support we needed during the hardest period of our lives. The care we received meant everything.’

Although Nick is no longer with us, I still look for ways to feel connected to him. I find great solace in the thought of a garden that is filled with memories, where every dedication represents a life that continues to be celebrated. It feels like such a fitting way to honour the people who have shaped our lives and left lasting footprints on our hearts.’

St Clare Hospice’s Serenity Garden is located in the beautiful Hospice gardens, filled with flowers and created for reflection, remembrance and connection for adults and children alike. At the heart of this stunning space is a garden house beside the Hospice pond where personalised bronze hearts will line the walls, each engraved with the name of someone dearly loved.

To make a tribute in the St Clare Hospice Serenity Garden, you must order your bronze heart on the Serenity Garden donation form.

The St Clare team will then arrange for your heart to be engraved and will contact you when your heart is ready to be placed in the Serenity Garden.

Your heart will remain in our beautiful remembrance garden for one year before the St Clare team offer you the opportunity to renew your Serenity Garden tribute.

You can dedicate a heart to anyone you wish to remember and celebrate, whether they have been cared for by St Clare Hospice or not.

To make a dedication, each bronze heart can be purchased for a suggested donation of £85 (per year). This can be paid in full or in smaller amounts via direct debit.

Serenity Garden dedications are intended to provide a lasting tribute. However, memorials are subject to the terms and conditions of the scheme and annual renewal.

Once you have made your dedication, St Clare Hospice will confirm when your heart is due to be installed.

Yes – the St Clare Serenity Garden has been designed as a safe space for people to reflect, remember and honouring your loved ones. It is located in St Clare Hospice’s grounds next to the pond. Surrounded by flowers and wildlife, this stunning space offers a tranquil place to take in beautiful scenery while reflecting and remembering someone special.

If you have purchased a Serenity Heart before, you will need to renew your dedication on a yearly basis. If you’d like to renew your Serenity Garden dedication, you can do so by filling in our renewals donation form.

Yes. You can request a change to your inscription at the point of annual renewal*
