We are appealing for volunteers to come and lend a hand in our brand-new vintage shop, Scarlet Vintage & Retro!
St Clare Hospice, is appealing to local people to lend a hand at our brand-new shop in Harlow, Scarlet Vintage & Retro.
Scarlet Vintage and Retro, located at 3 Broadwalk in Harlow’s town centre, is set to celebrate its grand opening this October. Home to a hand-picked selection of clothing and accessories dating back to the 90s and earlier, amongst other retro-style wearables, collectables and homeware, the shop also boasts a range of premium, brand-new items – making the store a treasure-trove for local fashion shoppers.
St Clare is appealing for volunteers to assist in the running and upkeep of Scarlet Vintage & Retro to help raise vital funding for the hospice, so they can care for more local people than ever. A voluntary role in a St Clare shop involves accepting and sorting through donations; displaying items beautifully; and providing great customer service. The benefits for you might include meeting new people, feeling happier and healthier, learning new skills, or improving your CV.
St Clare Hospice’s Voluntary Services Manager, Rob Wallace, commented:
“Volunteering with St Clare in one of our shops is such a powerful way to support the charity – we literally couldn’t do what we do without our incredible, dedicated team of volunteers. Lending a hand in Scarlet Vintage & Retro is also an extremely exciting opportunity to get involved with a cool, quirky fashion-forward shop in Harlow. The shop will be a community-hub dedicated to ‘bigging up’ Harlow, whilst celebrating sustainable shopping and individual style. If you are a real team-player, love working with people, and perhaps even have a passion for all things vintage and retro, then please do get in touch! This opportunity could be the retail role of your dreams – and you will also be helping to make a real difference to the lives of local people!”
It costs over £4.6 million each year for St Clare to provide its vital services to the people of West Essex and East Herts. With limited NHS funding, the charity needs to generate for most of this through fundraising.
The St Clare Trading Company currently runs nine charity shops, with all of the profits passed directly to the hospice. The charity shops, generating approximately £380,000 for the hospice annually, play a vital role enabling the charity to support local people in times of need. Shop volunteers are integral to their success, with more than 250 hospice supporters lending a hand each week in their local shop.
