Our flourishing charity shop, Scarlet Vintage & Retro, has launched a wedding and occasion wear collection!
Our specialist vintage charity shop in Harlow has launched a collection of wedding and bridal attire at its premises at 3 Broad Walk in the town’s centre.
Scarlet Vintage and Retro is already on the map as a thriving community hub, just six months after its Grand Opening in October 2018. The shop’s latest venture includes the launch of a specialist wedding collection, now available for private viewing.
Future brides can book an appointment to view the collection from any time after 9am, Monday to Saturday, for a cost of £5 per appointment – which is refundable upon the purchase of a dress. As tradition calls, a glass of bubbly will also be on the house after customers find ‘the dress’!
Shop Manager at Scarlet Vintage and Retro, Tracey Chippett, said:
“We have been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to get our wedding shop ready – as it’s been a dream of ours since we opened the shop last autumn. We have a whole private room upstairs, above the main store, for customers to take time to privately browse more than 50 beautiful, garments to celebrate their big day in. The dresses are absolutely stunning, with many hand-embroidered or embellished with beautiful vintage beads. Many are genuine vintage, whilst some are new with the tags still on! You really can get a lot of bang for your buck as they are so reasonably priced – and for the ethical, sustainable shopper, there’s really nothing more to ask for!”
Allie Julian, Shop Assistant at Scarlet, added:
“A wedding dress is such a special piece of clothing; it’s the dress you choose to wear on the happiest day of your life! For the fashionista, it can mean everything to make sure she gets the dress she’s always dreamed of. But when you know that your dress will also be raising vital funding for St Clare, it will mean that much more. There’s also something really romantic about wearing a vintage dress on your wedding day: the
memories of the joy the dress has brought to people through generations, and its journey to its new owner…We can’t wait to experience that moment when our first local bride comes in and finds ‘the dress’ for her!”
Scarlet Vintage & Retro is appealing for local brides to ‘share the love’ and donate their wedding dresses, no matter how old or new, to St Clare Hospice. Donations of bridal attire or occasion wear can be dropped off to any of St Clare’s 9 shops throughout West Essex and Bishop’s Stortford, or to the Hospice in Hastingwood.
