St Clare Hospice hosts its first webinar to share knowledge and experience with other professionals
Dr Qamar Abbas presenting via zoom

The first of our new webinar series, exploring End of Life and palliative care, ran on Tuesday 27th October. The one-day event was attended by 18 external professionals including GPs, registered nurses, care home managers and practitioners, along with student nurses.

“The event proved to be a huge success with incredible uptake, so much so that we’ve now planned another two seminars in the coming months in order to meet this demand,” said Dr Qamar Abbas, Medical Director at St Clare Hospice and organiser of the End of Life Care webinar series.

“We knew that there was a real need for information and guidance relating to end of life care, but our usual teaching method of face-to-face study days wasn’t possible given the current situation. This is why we created a day-long, interactive webinar – delivered via Zoom, for health and social care professionals exploring a variety of areas relating to end of life care.

Dr Abbas added: “St Clare Hospice takes great pride in contributing to the field of palliative care education locally, nationally and internationally, and we’re pleased to be able to support our colleagues to learn more about compassionate, end of life care and how to deliver it well.

“We provide a number of educational activities designed to meet the needs of our health and social care colleagues in the NHS, nursing homes, community teams and acute care settings.”

Over the coming months, there will be two more webinars running on Friday 27th November and Friday 11th December. The event on the 27th November is already fully booked, but places can be booked for the 11th December event via eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/end-of-life-care-webinar-december-tickets-127719539581
