Laura’s Story

When Laura’s nan became unwell very suddenly, it shook her families world.
After a short stay in hospital, Laura’s nan was sent home. Her family did everything they could, but Laura’s nan deteriorated quickly and was readmitted to hospital. They were told she had days left.
“That’s when I remembered St Clare Hospice. I had spent a student placement there years before, and I knew – deep in my bones – this was where she needed to be. A place where care is focused on comfort, dignity, symptom control and the emotional wellbeing of the whole family.
