Join Dr Arjun Kingdon for a free lunchtime lecture exploring the pitfalls and challenges of prescribing opioids.
Opioids (narcotics) are used with or without non-opioids to treat moderate to severe pain. They are often a necessary part of a pain relief plan for cancer patients. Progress has occurred in the management of cancer pain, yet under-treatment persists. Additionally, new challenges are threatening these advances. These challenges are numerous and include educational deficits, time restraints, and difficulties with side-effects and tolerance. Dr Qamar Abbas will deliver this talk to address those pitfalls and challenges and suggest ideas to deal with those.
Dr Arjun Kingdon is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Clare Hospice and Princess Alexandra Hospital.
