We had the privilege of caring for Vicki’s dad John when his health began to deteriorate following a secondary cancer diagnosis.

Vicki shared: ‘The day Dad died, I could sense that things were progressing. Maggie, one of the healthcare assistants, who was amazingly kind, said to me, “If you don’t want to be on your own, I’ll come and sit with you.” She adjusted the lights and did everything to make things as easy as possible for me in those last moments. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for everything St Clare did for Dad and for us as a family.’

Supporting St Clare Hospice

St Clare Hospice’s care helps patients, their families, and carers, to make the most of every moment together, no matter how long they have left to live. However, we only receive limited funding from the NHS. Meaning we rely on our local community to help raise money to fund our hospice.

We need to raise more than 70% of our annual costs to provide our vital services; in 2023/2024 the running costs of our charity is expected to be £7.3 million. We therefore rely on our local community to help us raise money each year so we can continue being there for local families facing one of the most difficult journeys in life.

Any donation you can give today will directly help families like Vicki and her dad, John.
