Half-price bargains to be had in Bishop’s Stortford!
St Clare Hospice has opened a new Outlet Shop on the same site as our Donation Centre, at the Links Business Centre in Bishop’s Stortford. The Outlet Shop is our ninth store and will stock end-of-range items, offering shoppers a ‘last chance to buy’ items, with most products on sale at half the original marked price.
Fiona Eaton, Head of Retail at St Clare Hospice, said: “Our new Outlet Shop will offer the best bargains to eager thrift-shoppers looking for a great deal. With a wide range of goods from ladies’ and menswear, to household goods and furniture, there is something for everyone – and with almost all stock at half price, all year round, there are some great buys to be had.”
Fiona continued: “We have opened the Outlet Shop in response to feedback from donors who have given goods at our Donation Centre and would also like to make a purchase. We have converted one-half of the unit into a shop so that customers can now enjoy some retail therapy when they come along to donate. Now you can ‘drop and then shop’! Shopping with St Clare is a fantastic way to shop in a more environmentally conscious and sustainable way – combatting the ‘fast fashion’ industry by giving a new home to pre-loved clothes and goods. In fact, charity shops across the UK prevent more than 339,000 tonnes of textiles from being disposed of every year.”
It costs over £4.8 million each year to provide the Hastingwood-based Hospice’s vital services (including clinical and support services) and, with limited NHS funding, the revenue raised by the charity’s trading company is essential.
Aimee McKay, Manager of the Outlet Shop and Donation Centre, said: “We are delighted to open the new Outlet Shop and can’t wait to welcome new customers to the store. Our shoppers make a vital difference to St Clare Hospice and the people we serve. It is thanks to them that the hospice can continue helping those affected by life-limiting illnesses to have the best quality of life possible.”
Aimee continued: “The new Outlet Shop needs people to donate their time, as well as shop with us! If you have time to give, and want to make a real difference to local people in your area, please consider joining our volunteer team. People are needed to help catalogue and sort donations, and provide good customer service to people donating and shopping.”
