The group, which included 10 members of Hospice staff along with Rhodes panto dame Milky Mary, walked barefoot over red-hot wood embers smouldering at about 800 degrees Fahrenheit for our latest challenge event.
Our challenge events fundraiser Jade Clarke said: “Despite it being a damp November evening, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and it was great to see so many people fired up for our St Clare Firewalk challenge.
“To watch people who had said earlier in the evening that they weren’t sure they could do it take their first steps onto the coals was really inspiring, with some people even choosing to walk across the fire pit twice!
“We are absolutely thrilled to have raised such an incredible amount of money for the Hospice and to have more than doubled our original £5,000 target. We are so pleased to be able to say the event exceeded all expectations and has been such a blistering success that we are planning a second Firewalk in April.”
We would like to thank Mantle Business Centres for hosting the Firewalk at its Thremhall Park Business Centre, near Stansted Airport, as well as event sponsors RecruitAbility and Bolt & Heeks Construction, and photographer John Turner for this great gallery of pictures.
