An Uttlesford-based property development company in Takeley has raised a staggering £150,000 in aid of local charity St Clare Hospice at their annual Golf Day last Thursday (18th August 2022).
Weston Homes Plc are long-standing charitable partners of the West Essex and East Hertfordshire hospice, and have raised well over a million pounds for the charity over the last 30 years.
Sponsored and attended by 44 individual teams from other local companies, Weston Homes’ Golf Day raised an incredible sum in vital funding this year for St Clare Hospice, which will go towards their specialist, compassionate palliative care for local people living with a life-limiting illness in West Essex and East Herts.
On the day, guests and golfers enjoyed a welcome breakfast before hitting the greens at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, followed by an evening of fine-dining and entertainment. The event finished with a charity auction in which guests bid generously for top prizes – including prestigious golf breaks, Newmarket tickets, signed sports memorabilia, amongst other impressive prizes.
A staggering sum raised
St Clare Director of Income Generation and Marketing, Rosie Knowles said: “Every year, we are completely humbled by the staggering sum of money that is raised at the Weston Homes’ Golf Day – and the figure continues to surprise everyone each year! £150,000 is a truly significant sum of money and is enough to fund more than 230 days’ worth of care for a patient on the specialist Inpatient Unit at St Clare. Vital care which enables family members to become husbands, wives, sons and daughters again, rather than carers.”
Rosie continued, “The continued generous support of Weston Homes, and all the supporting businesses and individuals who play golf, donate and support us, enables us to do what we do here at St Clare Hospice – developing our care services and ensuring we can support local people who need us now, and in the future. On behalf of all our doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers, and our patients, I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who made the day possible. Your support is so appreciated and valued by us all.”
Helping those on one of life’s most difficult journeys
Bob Weston, Chairman at Weston Homes, said: “St Clare Hospice is a vital organisation in the local community, supporting hundreds of people and their families each and every year. Here at Weston Homes, we are proud to host our annual golf day in aid of St Clare, so that local people can continue to access their services during one of life’s most difficult journeys. We’re delighted to have raised £150,000 this year – our heartfelt thanks go to our Weston Events team, and all the generous, local businesses involved, who helped to make this possible.”
