Jason Cater, Trustee

Jason is an experienced charity leader and fundraising specialist with over 25 years in the sector, spanning permanent, interim and consultancy roles. He has worked across a wide range of organisations, from national charities to smaller community-based services, with a particular focus on driving strategic clarity, strengthening income generation, and shaping financially sustainable plans. His work brings together fundraising insight and strategic financial thinking to support organisations to grow with confidence whilst building high-performing, resilient teams to ensure sustainability.

Jason’s passion for hospice care is deeply personal. Having had close family members supported by several hospices in Essex and later working with a number of hospices in senior roles, he has seen first-hand the invaluable, compassionate work they deliver. It’s this experience which underpins his commitment to helping hospices build the financial resilience and strategic focus they need to support families when it matters most.

Outside work, Jason enjoys squash, running, hiking and cheering on both Aston Villa and his local team, Colchester United. Much of his free time is also happily spent providing taxi services for his son’s various sporting commitments usually football, cricket or whatever the season demands.
