How Your Skydive Makes a Difference For Local People

Bradley’s story
Bradley’s dad, Bob, died in the hospice after being diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer. Bob and his family had been supported by our Clinical Nurse Specialists whilst Bob was at home, working to get his pain managed and helping with other distressing symptoms, caused by the cancer. In doing this skydive, Bradley has raised over £600 for St Clare Hospice.
“It’s been pretty tough since Dad died”, explains Bradley, (22). “I want to support St Clare, and I just thought, go extreme! I’ve been wanting to do a fundraiser for a year since Dad got ill. And then a month ago, my partner’s Nan, Francis, came in to St Clare. She was a big part of my life and it was really hard to lose her so soon after Dad, so when she passed, I thought ‘I’m going to do something now’, and skydiving came up so it went from there.
“I’m really excited about the skydive, but I’m also quite nervous at the same time. Dad would’ve been very proud. He was a very brave man, but I don’t think he would do a skydive, so he would be very proud of me. Dad was just the rock of the family. He was an amazing person and one in a million.”
