The much loved St Clare 10K will be held on Sunday the 10th of April this year and as always is starting and finishing at St Clare Hospice. Last year we raised £8,000 and we’re hoping to smash that target this year! Every pound raised helps St Clare with our important work, so please sign up now and join us for a great day out, a great run, and a great cause.

One of our participants this year will be veteran marathon runner Andy Kitson, aka the Clare Bear! Andy took on the mantle of the Clare Bear recently for the Great South Run and is currently training for a middle distance triathlon, so the 10K distance isn’t too much of a worry he says.

Being dressed as Clare Bear can add an extra level of difficulty however, as well as bringing him some extra support:

“The weight of the suit isn’t too much of a problem; the head causes a few problems though! When I did the Great South Run it was uncharacteristically warm and drinking water was awkward to do unless I walked. The suit also gets very warm so you want/need to drink lots more water!

“During training it certainly causes heads to turn and ensures you get a lot of shouts of encouragement.”

Athletic Andy says he wears the Clare Bear suit for runs as he “wanted a different challenge to the pursuit of another personal best.”

Everyone at St Clare is grateful to him for bringing Clare Bear to life, and he says of St Clare “I’m very grateful for the care they offered my Mother-in-law before she passed away in October”.

So make sure you sign up and join us, and look out for the Clare Bear on the day to give her a cheer!
