St Clare Hospice has opened a new charity shop in Priors Green, Takeley.

Members of the public were invited to attend the grand opening when Shaun Weston, managing director of British Offsite, part of the Weston Group, cut the ribbon to mark the shop officially open.

To celebrate, shoppers were offered a 10% discount off purchases of pre-loved goods on the day, with cake and a selection of beverages also on offer.

The new Takeley shop is the tenth in the chain of St Clare charity shops and will be stocked with some fantastic bargains.

Whether customers are searching for unique fashion finds to refresh their wardrobe, the perfect book to curl up with, or just looking to add a touch of style to their home, they’re bound to find something they love at a great price. And every purchase made will help support people who are living with a life-limiting illness.

St Clare Hospice is excited to champion the movement towards shopping sustainably and reducing reliance on fast fashion.

Takeley shop manager Louise Poulton said: ‘‘By choosing pre-loved items, you’re not only finding great deals but also contributing to a greener, more sustainable future. Our new shop is more than just a place to do this – it’s a vibrant community hub where you can donate items, volunteer and learn more about the vital work we do at St Clare Hospice.’’

She added: ‘‘With limited NHS funding, we rely on raising over £14,250 every day to keep the Hospice running. This new shop not only provides an opportunity for people to purchase quality goods at low prices, but also plays a crucial role in helping us provide outstanding hospice care to those who need it. The support from the local community will be vital in making a difference.’’

St Clare is currently recruiting for volunteers to work in the new shop, which is open seven days a week. There is parking available at the front of the shop, making it easy for customers to drop off donations.
