Event
What can I expect from the St Clare 10k?
By putting your fitness through the places at the hospice’s very own 10k event, you can expect:
- Atmospheric UK Athletics affiliated and chip-timed Essex 10k road race
- An inclusive event that welcomes people of all abilities, including wheelchair racers
- The opportunity to gather sponsorship to help raise vital funds for St Clare Hospice
- After crossing the finish line, you’ll receive an exclusive St Clare Hospice medal
- A huge sense of satisfaction knowing you’ve supported your local charity
What time does the 10k race begin?
The race will begin at 10.30am. Our wheelchair racers will set off first, followed by our runners shortly after. We encourage participants to arrive with plenty of time to warm up and collect any personalised vests.
Does it matter how long it takes me to complete the 10k?
Not at all! Whether it is your first or fiftieth run, runners of all abilities are welcome to enjoy the day.
Is their an age requirement for this event?
Yes. Participants must be aged 15 years and older.
What do I need on the day?
The St Clare 10k takes place in April meaning we could be joined by rain or sun. We therefore recommend that you dress appropriately for the weather, make sure to bring along your comfiest pair of running shoes and a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
If you’re early into your running journey, you can browse our eBay shop to see if we’ve got any running shorts or running shoes that fit your style!
Are there toilets available?
Toilets will be available at the Hospice event village for use before and after the event.
Is there a bag drop?
The hospice will provide space for runners to drop off their bags and personal belongings. Please note the area will be left unattended and St Clare Hospice accepts no responsibility for the loss of theft or personal belonging left unattended.
Are there water stations available?
There will be a water station during the course, as well as one at the finishing line, allowing runners to rehydrate.
Can I get a personalised St Clare running vest?
Yes! Runners who raise over £200 in sponsorship will be eligible for a personalised running vest. Vests can either be collected prior to the 10k, or on the race day itself when you sign in.
Can I wear headphones during the race?
During the 10K race, only bone conduction headphones are permitted. The use of all other types of headphones are not permitted for safety reasons. This ensures our runners are safe and alert to potential hazards during the event.

Where can I park?
Due to limited space, there will be no parking available at the hospice.

A shuttle service will transport participants and spectators to and from the hospice. Thank you to Dons Coaches for making this possible.
