The seasonal spirit was in abundance at our Festive Fun Run in Harlow on Sunday (December 13).

People of all ages dressed as Christmas elves, angels, Santa Claus and a pantomime horse were among those who took part in the sponsored 5km run or walk which started and finished at the Water Gardens. There were also children in buggies festooned with tinsel and even two Chihuahuas in a sleigh!

The race was started by Frozen princess Elsa as spectators cheered the runners on their way following a warm up led by Pure Gym. Other festive attractions included a face painter, a raffle, cakes for sale and a stall selling St Clare crackers.

The first person across the finish line was Tom Leitch, 23, from event sponsor Insight Private Finance, in under 30 minutes.

Our yuletide fundraiser is expected to generate £6,000 for the Hospice once all the sponsor money has been collected in.

We would also like to thank Esquires Coffee for offering a 20% discount on hot drinks for runners afterwards, Greggs for supplying the free mince pies, Scott Berry from the GPCA for providing the staging and PA system and Nigel Otter for our gallery of pictures.
