A total of 18 local businesses put the pedal to the metal for St Clare Hospice!
A total of twenty-four teams from eighteen local businesses got in the driver’s seat on Thursday 21 September 2017 at Rye House Raceway in Hoddesdon, to compete in a two-hour endurance go-karting race in aid of St Clare Hospice.
The participating local businesses included: LPL Construction and E. Corr – who also invited seven of their customers; Oakmont Construction; J Day & Son; John Turner Photography; HSBC (Corporate Banking Origination team); Stansted Building Services; Barclays Sawbridgeworth; Swallow Site Services; Weston Homes; and Alloy Fabweld.
Winning the go-karting race and the St Clare trophy was Team Pallett from Lyndon Pallett Group, who was invited to the event by LPL Construction and E. Corr.
The event in total raised £9,000 in vital funding for St Clare, which is enough to provide help and support for more than 12 patients to return home after a stay on our Inpatient Unit.
Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Clare, Amy Jacobs, said:
“What an exhilarating and adrenaline-fuelled night it was, watching 18 local businesses battle it out on the race track to raise vital funding for their local hospice! A massive congratulations to the winning team, Team Pallett, from Lyndon Pallett Group – and a huge thank you to each and every person who participated on the night. With your support, we were able to raise a fantastic amount of money that will directly contribute to improving local people’s lives and supporting them throughout their journeys.”
Mrs Jacobs continued:
“I would like to make a special mention to LPL Construction and E. Corr, who raised a significant chunk of the £9,000 total on top of the £20,000 they raised for us last year at their Fun Day. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership and we look forward to continuing to work with you.”
Brendan Corr from LPL Construction and E. Corr, said:
“The team and I had such a brilliant time at Rye House last Thursday, competing against other local businesses on the track and taking part in some excellent team-building activities. I was delighted to invite 7 of our customers and see one of them take the top spot on the podium. It’s amazing that we were able to raise vital funds for a really important local cause by doing something so fun! We look forward to next year’s event!”
