Our Inpatient Unit gets a £23,000 makeover!

The Wolfson Foundation, a London charity specialising in the awarding of grants to organisations in the fields of science, health, education and the arts & humanities, has supported St Clare with £23,000 in funding to refurbish our Inpatient Unit.

The Wolfson Foundation awards grants to voluntary organisations in the healthcare sector that are ‘delivering excellent care and support,’ with grants available for refurbishment opportunities as well as new building developments and the purchasing of equipment. With a focus on ‘enhancing care and providing better opportunities and improving quality of life,’ St Clare was chosen to receive the donation.

We received three high-grade pressure relieving mattresses from the Wolfson Foundation in April 2017, which have provided a huge benefit to the comfort of our patients. The London-based organisation also supplied a new replacement carpet for our Inpatient Unit (IPU), in addition to re-flooring the entire Hospice reception area and corridors leading to the IPU.

Cheryl Armitage, our Director of Income Generation, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to receive such a generous gift for St Clare from The Wolfson Foundation. Their refurbishment of our reception area and Inpatient Unit is worth so much more than its value in money, as it is vital that both areas provide a comforting reassurance to the patients who we care for day in and day out, and their families and relatives.”

“The new work looks absolutely fantastic, and creates a fresh, yet warm and homely, atmosphere for everyone who comes to visit us to enjoy. We couldn’t be more appreciative and humbled that St Clare was chosen to receive such a generous grant.”
