Scarlet’s seasonal launches are hugely popular. Held twice a year, tickets are always snapped up well ahead of the events. In just two hours, £1,980 worth of pre-loved clothes and accessories were sold at the St Clare Hospice boutique store in Buckhurst Hill, including a brand new pair of Karen Millen shoes for £45 and a never worn Karen Millen dress for £50.

“There were so many bargains to be had,” said manager Jan Cutts. “As always we are very grateful to our customers for the brilliant donations they give to Scarlet to support their favourite charity. We couldn’t hold these events without them.

“We get to know our customers well and love offering a personal service, helping them to find something we know they will like. What made Thursday evening even more special was the way people were helping and encouraging each other as well. The atmosphere was wonderful.

“And I must say a big thank you to all Scarlet’s volunteers, who work so hard and give us so much of their valuable time. It’s a great team.”

St Clare Hospice has a total of eight shops, which contribute a vital £510,000 each year towards improving the lives of local people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
