Grown Up Chocolate Company sponsor our festive 5k!

If you needed another reason to be a chocolate lover, the kind-hearted local confectionery firm the Grown Up Chocolate Company, has one for you! They are kindly sponsoring our Santa Dash 5k festive fundraiser, helping to ensure the event raises as much as possible to fund our care over the Christmas season.

The ‘Santa Dash’, St Clare Hospice’s festive family event, will be taking place at The Water Gardens in Harlow on Sunday 4 December and promises to start your Christmas countdown in a truly jolly way. Participants will be donning Santa costumes and taking part in either a 5k route or shorter ‘mini mile’, around the town centre. The event hopes to raise £10,000 for the Hastingwood-based charity – enough to fund their essential services on Christmas Day.

This year’s event has been sponsored by one of our corporate partners, Harlow-based chocolatiers, the Grown Up Chocolate Company.

James Ecclestone, the owner of the Grown Up Chocolate Company, said: “We are delighted to be able to support our local hospice by sponsoring their 5k Santa fun run. I have seen first-hand the incredible care which they offer to our local community, and as a responsible local business who wants to give something back to the people of Harlow, we couldn’t hope to support a more worthwhile cause. This event aims to raise enough to fund the amazing care which St Clare will be providing, both in their centre and in people’s own homes, on Christmas Day itself.”

James Ecclestone said: “Whilst most people will be happily celebrating this special day of the year with their loved ones, some families will be going through one of the toughest journeys of their life. To be able to support St Clare in caring for local families who need the support of the hospice on Christmas Day is an immense privilege. We hope hundreds of Santas join in St Clare’s event and help to make this festive fundraiser an absolute cracker!”

Amy Jacobs, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Clare Hospice, said: “It is fantastic to be partnering with the Grown Up Chocolate Company to deliver our biggest Christmas fundraiser. The significant financial support of the company will cover all the costs involved in running an event of this size – meaning that every penny raised by participants goes straight back in to funding our care. The event is targeted to raise enough to fund our care on one of the most special days of the year – Christmas Day – when our nurses, nursing assistants and vital support staff will still be working and caring for local families in need.”

Amy Jacobs said: “Our partnership with the Grown Up Chocolate Company offers tangible business benefits to the company, as well as providing vital income for the hospice. Sponsoring an event enables companies to raise their profile in the local community, and to help a local charity that many of their employees and customers will be supported by through their lifetime. It really is a win-win relationship.”
